A dance crawl through the city
A dance crawl through the city
When the first Covid streak hit, The Shift wanted to find a different way to reach an audience. We tore down our ideals of having a fixed space with beautiful costumes and lighting and took to the streets of Oslo, Norway, with Der Ute (Out There), a dance crawl through the city.
Move through the city with us as we perform in outside at Bjørvika, Oslo Cathedral, Nationaltheatret and Aker Brygge.
Backed by the sounds of James Blake and Grandbrothers, the dancers perform one of 3 movements about love and togetherness in 3 different locations around the city center. It is an informal piece that is inviting, yet unintrusive for its audience; bringing the theaters’ essence to invited guests and passers by and indulging them in a unique city dance experience.
We believe digital content will never outdo a live art experience and during this time of crisis, it has become clear that we must look into alternative ways to stay positive and feel connected to each other.
We hope to reignite Der Ute in the near future and are looking for support for this project. Please check out our Support Page to find out more about how you can help us present this fresh and exciting work again.

The Shifts’ projects are produced out of the personal time and initiative of its founder. While we are applying for support from Kulturrådet and other government funded establishments, we cannot solely rely on their help.
Often times, great projects never see the light of day because of lack of funding and support. We want to establish a relationship with our audience and be able to create new, exciting work for you to experience when the time is right, not when our application is approved!
Please help us form a stronger base by donating to The Shift and encourage interesting dance initiatives to blossom.
