Vainglorious in April

Vainglorious in April

Life is a circus. In Vainglorious in April, the main event is a balancing act of selfishness and self worth surrounded by a funhouse filled with illusive happy endings that are both entertaining and maddening.

This sight specific show was co-created, co-produced and co-choreographed together with Oliver Halkowich (first soloist with Houston Ballet). With two main characters and a supporting cast of five, Vainlglorious in April uses vaudeville and cabaret to inspire its physical language and attitude. With many short numbers proceeding each other, it makes for a fun evening that is both raw and refined, sad and ironic. The audience is a mobile onlooker, moving outside, inside and in between the walls of the productions’ minimalistic set.
